Hugh Martyn | Chair

I started my career as a solicitor before moving into corporate management roles. In addition to a Law degree, I hold a Master of
Business Administration. I have substantial experience in senior management roles across a number of major companies including CEO, PGG; COO, PGG Wrightson; MD Australasia Invacare Corporation Ltd as well as a number of other senior appointments. I am currently Chairman of City Care Limited, having been a Director since 2005. My past governance positions include being a Director of the New Zealand Merino Company Limited and a Trustee of St Margaret’s College.

Dorenda Britten

I’ve always been captivated by the potential of good ideas to transform organisations and change lives. It’s led me to my life’s work - helping organisations shape ideas that will shape tomorrow.

Design thinking is often considered complex. It doesn’t have to be.

Through executive and board-level mentoring, innovation team building and project scoping and implementation, I bring clarity and simplicity to design-led strategy.

Jason Pemberton

I constantly think about the ways things work. With 10 years of experience across engineering, sales, tertiary education, disaster response and social services, my natural role in life is a broker between sectors and perspectives. As a social entrepreneur, the foundation of my professional activities is the constant push for a truly sustainable and truly just world. This is the challenge that we have no option but to address, and is, at it's core, a design challenge.

Donna Frew

I have a passion for customer-led design and the impact that innovation strategies within organisations. My formal education, LLB / B.Com from University of Canterbury, has supported my executive experience where I have specialised across legal, marketing, sales operations and product design. My current role looks at “what next” for agriculture innovation focussing on collaborative programmes to further develop the NZ innovation ecosystem for the future of NZ ag tech.

Shelley Dickson

I have extensive experience in Business Banking across a variety of industries.  I am also a Business Coach.  My core ethos is one of providing exceptional customer service through building strong relationships and assisting business owners to grow sustainably.  Having been a business owner I truly understand the daily challenges faced by businesses.  My drive to enhance businesses through education has seen achievement of a strong foundation of "raving fans".

Greer O'Donnell

I have a background in law and anthropology so inquiry comes naturally! Developing workable and sustainable solutions has been a central focus of my career in urban planning and development, where I have acquired significant experience in project establishment, governance, strategic thinking, communications and planning.

More recently I have been focused on working with innovative startups focused on how the built environment impacts the people who live within it and the need for sustainable outcomes and the importance of solutions that are concerned with the environment, social, economic and financial arenas continues to gain momentum.

Louise Webster | Advisor

Louise is a motivated senior leader, entrepreneur and a natural collaborator who works with business leaders across industries and organisations to maximise New Zealand’s future growth.


Louise has an in-depth understanding of the innovation eco-system. In 2009 she founded New Zealand’s largest innovation and business
growth community The NZ Innovation Council and its associated major annual awards program, The Innovation Awards. The Council now has over 4,000 members and an interactive network that reaches over 3.4 million people globally. Louise sold the business to global accounting firm KPMG in April 2017.
